” I thought I’d let you know how it’s going, my exported energy is down to 3% from about 60% ! The system usually ‘kicks in’ at around 6:30pm and runs until about 2am. Really pleased, love the product!”
Mr Phillips, Merseyside
“We moved Into our current home 18 months ago, having lived in Wadebridge for several years. Our 100 year old Police cottage left quite a lot to be desired as an eco home, we see it as an ongoing project with still a little way to go. First priorities were to have solar panels installed and address insulation issues. I installed a solar diverter to heat the water for us but still could see lots of our generated power being leaked back into the grid. I looked for an alternative ways to use or store this energy. At the time there was little I could do, there were battery storage systems available but they were very bulky, expensive, dubious battery life and worst of all not type approved for a grid tie system, they were all of European origin and I wanted something “home grown”. I had been a member of WREN whilst in Wadebridge, and have used their considerable knowledge base to improve my homes, I also signed up for Wattstor’s news letter and had been following their progress and development with quite some interest. Then the WREN newsletter came announcing their system I knew it was time to commit to battery storage.
After a couple of e-mails I arranged a site survey with Michael, we met and discussed my requirements and was assured that each system they install is tailored the householders needs and requirements. A price was agreed for some additional work I wanted and I gave them the go ahead. The lead time was short, just a couple of weeks, and the install date soon came.
The team from Wattstor arrived on time and after an initial discussion and cup of tea work commenced. The team of engineers set about the install, one of the main aims was to make it as neat and unobtrusive as they could, the results speak for themselves. A tidy install that took just one day and with minimum disruption and no mess left. Within the first few days it was clear we were making considerable savings on our electricity usage with very little coming from or going into the grid. I would recommend Wattstor to anyone who has solar installed and wants to use their investment more effectively.”
Mr & Mrs McDonald, Bude
“Thanks again for the super-efficient installation, Tim and Carl are a credit to your organisation, the professional way they executed the implementation was very impressive. I was delighted that the old earth trip was removed and replaced with an RCD together with a new earth terminal block, the whole system is looking great. I won’t hesitate to recommend you company to friends and interested parties with similar requirements. It still amazes me that people are so conservative about solar power, sure there is an initial investment, what people don’t realise if they are not part of that, they are actually subsidising those that are.
I read the meter this morning and did the maths – £20 this month in electric, that’s fantastic. How much better than the normal £140. It has involved education here, getting the washing done in the afternoon, using the e-setting on the washer to do the white stuff using the free hot water. I couldn’t be more pleased.”
Mr. Sexton, Devoran
“My Wattstor can store up to 6kWh of power and can, within that capacity, meet demands of up to 5kW of electrical load – enough to get my home through the night without importing any significant utility company power. Indeed on 14 occasions during this monitoring period my daily utility power import was less than 1 KWh at a cost of 15p! The actual, measured, reduction in demand – imported electricity – is 62.1% over the period. I am now placing a load onto the National Grid of 37.9% of my average demand of the last two years. My experience mirrors that reported by the University of Exeter when they independently monitored the Wattstor prototypes in 2013. Interestingly, if my experience was repeated on all registered renewable energy storage systems (650,000 and growing) we could probably close down power stations instead of building new ones – especially the nuclear one at Hinckley C where the government is about to give £24bn to the French and Chinese to build for us!
Mr. Hopper, Penryn
“The WATTSTOR provides us with the means to store and manage the power we generate in an efficient way and, as such, ‘fills the gap’ for people with renewable energy systems i.e. you no longer have to ‘use it, or lose it (to the grid)’. With our ‘eyes wide open’ that we would, to some degree, be ‘guinea pigs’, we became an early adopter of WATTSTOR because we had faith in its co-founders, Peter, Mark and Rob who had invested significant amounts of their own money and much time in its development, secured the support of the Environmental Sciences team at Exeter University and also had the prototype installed in Peter’s own home. Even during the lousy winter of 2013/4, our faith has been justified. The system works and is a no-brainer for anyone with a source of renewable energy they wish to optimise. We look forward to a continuing relationship as WATTSTOR becomes the success it deserves to be.”
Dr. Edwards, Bodmin
