On Wednesday (15th September) Wattstor attended Smart Energy Wales in Cardiff alongside key businesses and stakeholders who have the potential to make the challenge of a carbon free Wales a reality. The event saw seminars and discussion on various aspects of the renewable industry, including:
- The potential for “Energy Parks” to transform the renewable landscape
- The wider use of “Smart Grids” to enable a better supply and demand of electricity and gas
- The use of hydrogen to decarbonise the national gas network
- The deployment of renewable energy storage in creating a more localised grid.
We were also gifted a keynote speech from Carl Sargeant, Labour & Welsh MP for National Resources, who conveyed his believe that Wales can become more sustainable using existing resources and also reinforced the many positives of growing the green economy. He also expressed his deep frustration at the current Government’s attitude towards renewables, and hinted at a Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland independent solution to FITs being slashed by the current government.
